Temp FAQs.

  • 1. What's the difference between temporary and permanent recruitment?

For permanent recruitment, you instruct us to find the most suitable candidate for your vacancy. You’re the legal employer and responsible for the candidate's employment, salary, pension and costs associated with absenteeism in the workplace. Read more about permanent recruitment.

If you want to be completely unburdened choose temporary employment. For temp workers we handle the recruitment and selection. We’re the candidate's legal employer and responsible for the contract, salary, pensions and payment for any absenteeism.

  • 2. How much does it cost to employ a temp?

It really depends on the job they are going to do and the level of skill and experience they have and whether people with those skills are in short supply. If you have a job in mind give us a call for a quote.

  • 3. How long can a temp work?

Temporary jobs can last up to one year. Temp jobs can also last for a short time period, such as a few weeks. For example, a seasonal retail employee might work for six weeks, while an office manager filling in for an employee on maternity leave might work for six months or a year.

  • 5. I'm struggling to find someone permanent can I hire a temp to fill the gap short term?

Yes, this is where recruiting a temp can be a real bonus to you. Our pool of temps are there to slot into your business as and when you need them. It will give you time to select the perfect candidate for your permanent job.

Also it's quite common for companies to ask a good temp if they are interested in taking the job on a permanent basis.

  • 6. How quickly can a temp start work?

Many temps can start work immediately. But there may be some who are on another short term assignment, so you may have to wait a couple of days. We'll let you know how soon they will be able to start work.

  • 7. What rights do agency workers have?

Agency employees have the same rights as your permanent colleagues to use any shared facilities and services provided, for example:

    • a canteen or food and drinks machines
    • a workplace creche or mother and baby room
    • car parking or transport services, like a local pick-up service or transport between sites.

    Rights after 12 weeks

After 12 weeks in the job they will qualify for the same rights as someone employed directly. This is known as ‘equal treatment’.

    Their rights include:

‘equal pay’ - the same pay as a permanent colleague doing the same job

    automatic pension enrolment

    paid annual leave
